Words of Wisdom from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

“Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” “Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.” “The time is always right to do what is right.” “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” “Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.” “We must learn to live together as brothers or perish together as fools.” “I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality…I believe that unarmed truth and unconditional love will have the final word.” “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope.” “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” “The ultimate tragedy is not the oppression and cruelty by the bad people but the silence over …

Celebrating Stewart – The End of an Era

With Jon Stewart’s reign at The Daily Show coming to an end tonight, it’s time to celebrate the man whose cultural influence knows no bounds. After taking over The Daily Show in 1999 (previously hosted by Craig Kilborn), Stewart went on to create a new type of news series. As a result of their popularity on The Daily Show, three of his correspondents went on to host their own shows: Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report, John Oliver of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, and Larry Wilmore of The Nightly Show with Larry Wilmore. Aside from Saturday Night Live, can you think of …

Video Of The Day: Beyoncé’s ‘Yours and Mine’

Yours and Mine is a retrospective short film celebrating the one-year anniversary of the self-titled album, BEYONCÉ. Recently I’ve began to appreciate Beyoncé as a cultural icon more and more – and this short film sealed the deal. I truly look up to this woman. As an artist she’s known for being a perfectionist, and although this retrospective is nothing short of perfect, there’s a looseness and an honesty about it that many people don’t expect from her. Although her fame makes her an individual whose day-to-day life I can’t relate to, through this retrospective I felt a connection. We’re all humans. Celebrity means nothing.
