Giving for Thanksgiving

Usually my Thanksgiving posts involve writing about what I’m thankful for or highlighting the hypocrisy of the holiday, but this year (oh what a year it’s been…) I decided to create a list of charities and groups worth donating to. Because what’s better than giving on Thanksgiving? Like any list I’ve made on Catch-all, this post is wholly incomplete. There are so many wonderful charities that have either slipped my mind, or I’m not aware of yet, so please be sure to share some of your favorites that aren’t listed in the comment section below. And whether you’re celebrating Thanksgiving or not, I hope you enjoy the holiday season and spending time with loved ones. ❤ Farm Sanctuary The ACLU EMILY’s List The Downtown Women’s Center of Los Angeles National Park Foundation NARAL The Trevor Project Habitat for Humanity The Children’s Defense Fund Best Friends Animal Society National Center for Transgender Equality Amnesty International National Lawyers Guild Women in Film “Unidos” Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief – The Hispanic Federation Stand Up To Cancer NAACP Legal Defense …

Happy Holidays to You and Yours

Dear Readers, Happy Holidays! I hope you’re relaxing and making time to do the things you love. During this time of year it’s easy to get wrapped up in gifts (wrapped up, get it? Wow I’m cheesy!), financial woes, and a bit of family drama, so it’s important to step back and take a little time for yourself. As with Thanksgiving, it’s also a wonderful opportunity to reflect on what you’re thankful for. I’m thankful to be back in Tucson right now, spending the holiday season with friends and family. With moving and starting graduate school, this has been a whirlwind of a year, and I’m extremely fortunate to have a strong support system of loving people who have guided me every step of the way. It’s also been immensely therapeutic to have this blog and be able to share my thoughts and feelings on any given topic. I’m grateful to have such a space, and I’m certainly appreciative that people even want to read it! So thank you! As always, please be sure to send in feedback, submissions, or professional inquiries to catchallblog@gmail.com. …

Giving Thanks

I’m thankful for the roof over my head. I’m grateful for my loving family and friends who accept me for who I am. I’m happy that I can finally call Los Angeles my new home. I’m glad that I’m still so very in love with the place I came from and am fortunate enough to return often. I’m thankful for being so lucky. I’m grateful to have access to a quality education. I’m appreciative of all of the generous people in my life. I’m both lucky and grateful to have access to water, plumbing, food, and healthcare. I’m thankful for every positive moment I’ve ever shared with a stranger or a loved one. Though some of us are more fortunate than others, we all have at least one thing we can be thankful for. And for those of us lucky enough to have many reasons to be grateful, we should be conscious of our advantages. This Thanksgiving, I recommend doing something for someone else. Whether that means volunteering at a homeless shelter or simply helping your host with the dishes, be sure to show someone that you’re thankful …

Giving Thanks

Last Thanksgiving I posted about what I was thankful for, and thankfully I still feel the same way. Here’s that list, and more: I’m thankful for my family – my friends – my soulmate. I’m thankful to have two wonderful dogs – to be from Tucson – to have the opportunity to travel. I’m thankful for the roof over my head – for my education – for Mexican food. I’m thankful to have a diverse group of friends – to have access to healthy foods – to have health insurance. I’m thankful for my youth – my health – my unique perspective. I’m thankful to be employed – to be in love – to have a best friend for a sister. I’m thankful to be a woman – to have supportive parents – to have creative outlets. I’m thankful for the hurdles I’ve overcome. I’m thankful for a bright future. I’m thankful to have so much to be thankful for. I’m thankful to have people I can confide in. I’m thankful to have the option to do anything I want with my life. I’m thankful for my smart and unbelievably talented friends …
